Happy Birthday To Me!

Today I turned 23. A couple years ago I would never have guessed that I would be spending my 23rd birthday hiking in Rwanda a world away from my family, but here we are and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
This past weekend I celebrated my birthday early with my friend Mari come half way across the country to camp in Nyungwe National Park. Nyungwe is a large rainforest in the southern part of Rwanda, about 3 hours from my village. We stayed at a beautiful Eco Center right outside the park, hiked through a tea plantations with our amazing guide, Deogenne, took motos in the rainforest and hikes 2 pretty difficult hikes with our other amazing guide Pascal. It was an amazing weekend and a beautiful way to spend my birthday weekend. Sadly, I spent the actual day in bed sick with dehydration, but it was definitely worth it.
Thank you to everyone you sent me love from home and in Rwanda. You all made me feel loved, even from a far today.
